If I only need 160cm can I simply disconnect it or are the LEDs connected in series?

The whole thing works, but it is important to cut them in the right place. LED light strips consist of several individual circuits. The cut lines provided mark the end of one circuit and the beginning of another. Therefore, only cut along these lines, which are usually located between copper points. (Are often marked with a dashed line).
