For the proper keeping of poultry, ample space is essential. In addition to daily exercise in a large free-range enclosure, these animals also require a spacious retreat where they are protected from predators and weather conditions. This chicken coop provides a sheltered space for nesting and can complement poultry keeping alongside a large free-range area and a roomy barn.

The chicken coop, including the nesting box, has overall dimensions of 136 x 74 x 70 cm. At the front of the coop, there is a hinged entrance. When opened, the flap serves as a ramp, connecting the interior of the coop with the outside. This ramp makes it easier for the chickens to enter and exit the coop. Below the coop, there is a galvanized tray that can be pulled out. This so-called droppings tray allows for easy cleaning.

Both the coop and the nesting box are covered and insulated with water-repellent bitumen. This keeps the coop dry and warm, protecting the animals from cold and dampness. The chicken coop is made of high-quality wood and painted in reddish-brown, which protects the wood from the elements.

Note: While chickens are not large animals, they still require enough space to live. Each chicken needs 10 square meters available. Since chickens are social animals, space must be provided for an entire group. A group can consist of one rooster and three to six hens. Therefore, for this group size, at least 40 to 70 square meters of space is needed.
