Hello, I have a few questions about maintenance. We have an outdoor dog that usually drinks at the fountain in front of the house and only occasionally uses the drinking bowl in the house. 1. how often does the filter need to be changed? 2. how often does the drinking fountain need to be cleaned?

1. We wipe the reservoir and all water surfaces, once a week because the surface becomes slimy. We also clean the filter with fast running tap water.
2. I think the manufacturer recommends changing the filter monthly BUT we do it every 3 months (when it becomes really dark in colour).
