Hello, I have a few questions about maintenance. We have an outdoor dog that usually drinks at the fountain in front of the house and only occasionally uses the drinking bowl in the house.

1: I have 2 cats living indoors. I change the filter once a month as recommended by the manufacturer.
2: I clean the fountain surfaces once a month when I change the filter.

Hello,
1. We wipe the reservoir and all water surfaces, once a week because the surface becomes slimy. We also clean the filter with fast running tap water. 
2. I think the manufacturer recommends changing the filter monthly BUT we do it every 3 months (when it becomes really dark in colour).
