Would you also recommend this food dispenser if you are bothered by the smell of open dry food? We currently have a dispenser where the food falls down due to gravity and at least >3 daily portions are exposed.

Yes, because this product allows you to choose flexible small portions - so we very rarely have anything left in the food bowl.
The rest of the container is very leak-proof - a silica salt packet in the lid keeps the rest of the food nice and dry. We are impressed with the product.
Incidentally, our cat knows exactly when her portions are due... she then roams around the kitchen two or three minutes beforehand and gets her portion.

It has a flap that only opens when the food is dispensed. So the odour stays inside (at least that's how I feel).
