Ultima Thule is inspired by melting ice in Lapland. The surface of the design was developed by Wirkkala in the 1960s after carving a graphic shape. An exclusive design that represents the countless hours needed to perfect the glassblowing technique that creates this effect. The patterns gradually changed as the glass burned the surface of the wooden molds.
