Do you have your own grinder? If yes, you need to grind the coffee finer. If not, you have to buy a grinder. You won't be happy without your own grinder. I assume that you are doing everything else right (amount of powder, tamping, etc.). If you are still unsure, there are lots of youtube videos on how to set up a coffee machine correctly.

If you use too much coffee, it comes into contact with the shower too early and it becomes very difficult to screw in the plunger. I have already had this experience in this context.
