No, you can't, otherwise there is a risk of scalding. The garment should always be hung on a hanger for smoothing.

I was in North America this summer and had it with me. It was very different depending on the accommodation we were in. However, the performance is significantly weaker everywhere than in Switzerland. Hardly usable in some places.

Is the steamer suitable for all textiles?

Helpful answer
The Philips 3000 Series STH3020/70 steamer is suitable for most fabrics, but certain precautions should be taken. It is particularly good for fabrics such as cotton, linen and silk, but it is advisable to check delicate or special fabrics such as wool, velour or leather before use. It is always a good idea to read the manufacturer's instructions and garment labels to ensure that the steamer is not harmful.

Yes, the Philips 3000 Series Steamer STH3000/20 can also smooth linen without creases. The steamer is safe to use on all ironable fabrics, including delicate fabrics such as silk and linen. The heating plate is specially designed for contact with fabrics and will not burn your clothes.

I do use it specially for that! I’m quite satisfied with the results achieved when I want to make my bedlinen, pillows and cushion’s covers to look nice and wrinkle free again. However, if you’re planning to use it to iron bedlinen, sheets or other large pieces of fabric, I wouldn’t recommend it. But to refresh and remove wrinkles it’s perfect.

This is because we source some of our products from the EU in order to be able to offer more favourable prices. We therefore send a fixed adapter with such products so that they can be used in Switzerland. Whether such an adapter is included can be seen in the specifications. Unfortunately, we only have black fixed adapters.

Can I use the device in the USA?

I would say no, the USA has a different mains voltage than Europe. Example: I once had my normal hairdryer with me, unusable. With travel hair dryers, you can change the voltage. But this device does not have such a function.

You can set it "on" and "off", that's all you can do. It heats up when it gets too cool, but that's it. The results are great. For fabrics that can withstand iron level 3 and are a little more wrinkled, I also use the plate directly on the fabric.
