The kitchen measuring cup is used to portion cooking and baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, milk, water, and other cold or hot liquids. Two scales on the inside of the measuring cup indicate liters in centiliter increments or in ¼ or 1/8 liters (depending on the size of the measuring cup), which is the traditional Austrian unit of measurement for liquids. The measuring cup features a comfortable side handle and a spout, known as a beak, for easy pouring of liquids. The rim of the measuring cup is curved – in enamel terminology, this is called a rolled edge. The measuring cup is available in two sizes: Ø 9 cm H 12 cm (0.5 liters) and Ø 10 cm H 14.8 cm (1 liter).
