Question about Singer Heavy Duty 4432

I received the machine today and tested it straight away. Unfortunately I can't change the pattern. I turn the stitch selector wheel but the machine always sews normal "straight ahead" stitches. Have I overlooked something and do I have to change something else so that I can sew zigzags, for example?

I suppose you still have to turn the stitch length wheel (d) and the stitch width wheel (c) hard. No, sorry. No idea :-)
