The question about the difference between metal (EC9885.M, art. 54412761) and silver (EC9865.M, art. 24860692) has already been asked, but in my opinion it is not correct: the metal variant costs about half as much, has one less button and can no longer be found on delonghi.com. Assumption: Variant Silver is the successor with "Cold Extraction Technology". Is my assumption correct?

According to my research, both models have cold brew technology and sensor grinding technology with five temperature settings for the infusion. The EC9885.M model is equipped with an integrated grinder that offers 15 grind settings, while the EC9865.M has 8 grind settings that are suitable for different types of coffee beans. According to the manufacturer, the EC9865.M model has been replaced by its successor, the EC9885.M.
