The strength comes from the internal frame (subframe) located just below the surface of the silicone rubber shell (patent pending). This subframe not only provides fabulous strength and stability, but also eliminates the need for the massive external plastic frame required by other masks. The lenses of the mask are fixed in a stainless steel holder, which gives additional strength to the nose guard area of the mask.
