The main problem with safety carabiners on the harness was often that they did not stay in the correct position, which could lead to cross-loading. The same issue occurred during rappelling. This problem is now a thing of the past, as Grivel has developed a completely new carabiner with a second wire gate that keeps the carabiner in the correct position at all times. This innovation, the Clepsydra, now has a lighter and smaller version for situations where every gram counts.
