The Hanwag Waxenstein Bio is a mid-height shoe made from chrome-free tanned leather, offering a comfortable wearing experience. The StraightFit HANWAG last concept with a newly developed toe box allows for a straight alignment of the big toe and provides more space for the toes for people with a wider forefoot. It features the first fully compostable outsole for mountain and trekking shoes, which has two different profiles for various applications.

The shoe is suitable for everyday use, leisure activities, and walks on good paths, as well as light hikes in flat terrain. The categories A-B-C-D primarily determine the stiffness of the sole, the drop (how rounded the sole is to allow for smooth rolling), and the shaft construction, which positions a model within the categories.
