Garmin Edge Explore 2
I have now used the Garmin Edge Explore 2 on several tours and am really convinced by the device. I am a newcomer to velocomputers and have to say that at the beginning I was a bit overwhelmed with the menu navigation. The nice manual helps a lot at the beginning because you can set a lot on the device, even if it is a beginner's device, and configure the display the way you want it. But if you take a little time and set everything up nicely, the device is really great. For the GPS maps, I highly recommend hiding the street names, as this is configured a bit confusing from the factory. As soon as you have set the device according to your wishes, it is a great helper on the bike tour with navigation, Climb Pro and personalised data screens. I use the Edge together with the Garmin bike light, which works really great and the front light even dims the brightness according to the cycling speed. All in all, a really top device when configured correctly.

I didn't want a Garmin mehr‼️ Had/have already had 3 devices (car and bike) Such an illogical structure 😩 and whoops - accidentally reset to factory settings 😡🤬😡🤬🤬😡
But well, sponge over it. Everything to zero.
In terms of value for money, you can't beat this device. So I ordered it with the expectation of sending it back a day later. But.... I got to grips with the device and after a few ups and downs, we grew together 😉 The settings via the Connect app make the whole thing clearer, so you can then also get to grips with the sat nav very easily.
I've now also bought the speed sensor, heart rate sensor and cadence sensor. For the first time I can now ride, navigate and train properly (even on the roller) The whole package broadens my horizons by a world. The data is very informative. Data exchange with Strava and Health works without any problems.
Yes, I can only recommend it.

The old Garmin Oregon had a clear menu, the way we know it from the mobile. The Edge Esplore 2 is completely different here. Too many functions that require any sensors (heart rate monitor etc.). Also, the device converts .gpx files into a new format, what for? It could be so simple, not with Garmin. It's also not enough to have one app that is additionally needed on the mobile, it needs two. One for widgets and data fields, one for transferring the data. Last but not least: If you want to display the coordinates, you have to install an extra data field - on a GPS device. How stupid is that?

The Explore 2 would be a nice piece of hardware, but unfortunately the software holds it back! It's embarrassing that Garmin is releasing such a firmware on the market. With version 21.17, virtually no sensor connections are possible and when the device is in sleep mode, all sensors are lost and a reconnection is only possible after a restart. My almost ten-year-old Edge 1000 didn't even have such problems with the sensors.

For me, it's a little too geared towards cyclists - I cycle in the countryside and would prefer a non-specific programme logic for various areas of use.
