Ski poles

Ski poles fulfill various functions when skiing or ski touring. They are push and stop aids, make it easier to put on the skis and are suitable for use as pacing poles. As a rule, ski poles are made of either aluminum or carbon. Poles made of aluminum are stable, robust and inexpensive. Carbon poles are lighter than aluminum poles and have better cushioning. In addition to the classic ski pole with a fixed length, there are also telescopic poles. These are adjustable and are therefore suitable for tourers.

The following rule of thumb exists for determining the ideal ski pole length: the angle between the upper and lower arm should be 90 degrees when the tip of the pole is in the snow. It is better to buy a ski pole that is slightly shorter than too long.
