Can I show the battery charge on the display of the G2, e.g. in per cent when it is at a standstill, without having to use the smartphone app all the time? The LED bar seems pretty inaccurate to me

No, you can't do that. However, I find the display with the LED bar completely sufficient. You can only know exactly how high the battery level is to around 5 %.
