Thule Adapter Shimano Nexus/Alfine hub gears
Thule Adapter Shimano Nexus/Alfine hub gears
I bought this because my Cube e-bike's stand is very close to the hitch, almost touching It's always very difficult to attach and detach the trailer because of that. But the bike shop said there's no space to put this thing because my axle is not long enough. My bike has quick release lever. Should i remove the lever and put this instead? I read the user manual but it confused me more
Hoi - This adapter is only suitable for axles that have a hub gear. That's the "Nexus/Alfine" in the name. As you have a quick-release lever, this is almost certainly not the case for you, you probably have derailleur gears. These axles work completely differently and have different nuts. So this part does not fit.
However, Thule also has an adapter for your problem. There is a document from Thule called "Adapters to fit your Thule Child Carrier to your Bicycle", the 2nd part of the document is in German. It recommends the product "Thule spacer" for your problem, at Galaxus it has the article number 7180376, but the reviews are quite mixed, especially because of the price. This spacer would give you 10mm more space. As you write that the stand "almost" touches the clutch, this could be enough. However, more space is not recommended anyway, as the clutch also needs to be stable.
If the quick release would be too short because of the extra 10mm, you can almost certainly buy longer ones, which are usually quite cheap.
Good luck and have fun!
Hi again - I've just now noticed that your original question was in English. Galaxus auto-translates, so I didn't notice before. In case the auto-translation was weird for you, let me summarise my answer from 15 minutes ago:
- This adapter is for an internal gear hub.
- You likely have a "standard" set of gears with multiple cogs and a derailleur.
- Thus, the article "Thule Spacer", article number 7180376 might fit.
- You might need a longer quick release axle, but these are usually cheap.
Good luck!
