The Vital safety control unit is the heart of a new solution that allows for the installation of many different types of safety devices within the same safety circuit while still maintaining safety category 4 according to EN 954-1/EN ISO 13849-1. The Vital module is based on a dynamic single-channel concept, which differs from conventional dual-channel safety relays. ABB has developed this device to accommodate up to 30 dynamic sensors in the safety circuit, which can be monitored via a Vital module. Therefore, the Vital unit can replace multiple safety relays. Safety components with output contacts can be connected to the Vital using the cost-effective Tina adapters. The Vital also features an automatically or manually monitored reset, dual safety outputs, and an information output for reset indication and status information for PLCs.
