The Vital safety device from ABB is the core of a new solution that allows for the installation of many different types of safety devices within a single safety circuit while still maintaining safety category 4 according to EN 954-1/EN ISO 13849-1. The Vital module is based on a dynamic single-channel concept, which differs from conventional dual-channel safety relays. ABB has developed this device to accommodate up to 30 dynamic sensors in the safety circuit, which can be monitored through a Vital module. Therefore, the Vital unit can replace multiple safety relays. Safety components with output contacts can be connected to the Vital via cost-effective Tina adapters. The Vital also features an automatically or manually monitored reset, dual safety outputs, and an information output for reset indication and status information for PLCs. Cost-effective cable management/connections, information output with two functions, LED indicators for: power supply, dynamic signal, and outputs, detachable connector blocks, two normally closed safety outputs, manual monitoring or automatic reset, suitable for long cable lengths.
