With external control, the locks of the EL 520 model series feature a continuous lever cam and therefore require a changeable fitting (interior lever or panic handle, exterior knob or handle). The lock is activated by card readers, code locks, timers, buttons, etc. The bolt is retracted by an electric motor and is preloaded by a spring mechanism. When the door is closed, the control latch ensures the exclusion of the preloaded bolt and the locking of the cross latch, which serves as an additional locking mechanism. The lock operates on the working current principle and remains locked during a power outage, being able to be opened only with a key or by operating the interior lever.
