Steel sheet cabinets are often expensive to acquire and have a high weight. This frequently leads to additional effort in both logistics and handling. While often essential for EMC-critical applications, steel sheet cabinets can often be avoided. The Fleet series cabinets from BOXEXPERT offer a cost-effective alternative made of plastic.

The wall cabinet housing is made from very lightweight acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer (ABS), which results in a weight reduction of about 50% for the same housing size. Despite the lower mass, the Fleet housing series proves to be a robust alternative with an impact resistance of IK08. ABS plastic exhibits high resistance to alkalis, oils, and salts. Unlike metal cabinets, the Fleet series has the advantage of being resistant to corrosive loads without the need for additional coating of the housing surface.

Particularly for outdoor use, effective sealing of the electronic components against external influences is required. The plastic housings of the Fleet series feature a foamed polyurethane (PU) seal. The PUR seal is low-wear and robust against weather and aging effects. Polyurethane also remains elastic and resilient even with frequent operation of the cabinet door.

In addition to the properties of ABS plastic, the housing seal ensures an ingress protection rating of IP65. This makes the housing suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
