Description of a three-pole surge arrester with a three-stage DC switching device for PV systems up to 1000 V IP65. The robust and versatile surge arresters of the DEHNcube YPV SCI 1000 family have been specifically developed to protect equipment in photovoltaic systems. The patented three-stage DC switching device (SCI principle) used in these devices provides exceptional safety that meets the requirements of modern photovoltaic systems. The DEHNcube YPV SCI 1000 is the first surge arrester tested according to EN 50539-11 in protection class IP 65 from DEHN + SÖHNE. This eliminates the need for searching for space in a suitable distribution enclosure or installing a distribution enclosure solely for surge protection, which is common with standard rail-mounted arresters. The DEHNcube YPV SCI 1000 can be installed directly next to the inverter to be protected.
