Tapered roller bearings consist of solid outer and inner rings with tapered raceways and tapered rollers with cages. The bearings are not self-retaining, allowing the inner ring with the rollers and cage to be installed separately from the outer ring. Tapered roller bearings can handle high radial and one-sided axial loads. A second bearing, which is then arranged in a mirror image, is usually required for axial counter-support. The different designs are identified by so-called suffixes:

• A = Modified internal design
• B = Increased pressure angle
• X = Outer dimensions adapted to international standards
• P5 = Tolerance class.
