Product details

The PCE-FOT 10 temperature measuring device is an instrument that allows you to determine the quality of various types of oils. This oil quality measuring device is also successfully used by food inspectors. Measurements are taken directly in hot fat by placing the probe directly into a fryer or similar appliance, ensuring quick results. The oil temperature is measured in °C and the oil quality in percentage PC (Polar Compounds = polar components) within a few seconds. The PC value is an indicator of the thermal-oxidative stress level of frying oil. The device features a traffic light function, providing a color-coded display of the oil quality. This oil tester is not only used by food inspectors but also in the gastronomy sector, where a particularly high level of quality is required. According to the recommendations of the DGF (German Society for Fat Science), 24 percent polar components (Polar Compounds) is considered a threshold for the suitability of frying fat. Using old fat generally has many disadvantages, including affecting the taste and resulting in reduced quality. Additionally, it can lead to strong odor formation and smoke development if the fat is not tested with an oil tester. National regulations regarding maximum PC limits should be observed as necessary. Since not all oils behave exactly the same, various calibrations can be stored and accessed in the oil quality measuring device.
