Product details
The beautiful Acer Beni Maiko has a spherical growth form with deeply cut leaves. The maple changes color throughout the year: in spring, it turns fire red to pink-red, in summer it becomes blue-green with red veins, and in autumn, the maple regains its red color. This maple is very well suited for a compact garden as it grows slowly.
Care
Japanese maples are best planted from March to early November. During this time, the soil is warm, and the plants can establish good roots. Japanese maples are robust plants, but their leaves can be damaged in a windy location. Therefore, place the Acer in a sheltered spot. The plant prefers a location in partial shade, ideally without too much direct sunlight. Too much direct sunlight can dry out the roots, leading to leaf loss and burns. The Japanese maple is not evergreen, meaning it loses its leaves in winter. However, the plant is very hardy down to -20 °C and will sprout again in March with beautiful new leaves.
