Product details
The beautiful Japanese Maple Katsura is an ornament for any garden and also looks great in a pot or container on the terrace or balcony. The plant can grow up to 3 meters tall, but it takes many years to reach this height. This is because the Japanese Maple Katsura is a slow-growing shrub or small tree. The Katsura is a lovely variety with bright orange-yellow leaves in spring. In summer, the leaf color is golden yellow-green, and in autumn, the plant steals the show with a stunning orange fall color. The Japanese Maple is hardy and deciduous.
Care
Japanese Maples are best planted from March to early October. During this time, the soil is warmer, and the plants can establish good roots. In a planting container, this plant does not require special potting soil. Japanese Maples are robust plants, but in a windy location, the leaves can be damaged. Therefore, place the Acer in a sheltered spot. The plant prefers a location in partial shade, preferably without too much direct sunlight. Too much direct sunlight can dry out the roots, leading to leaf loss and burns. The Japanese Maple is not evergreen, meaning it loses its leaves in winter. However, the plant is very resilient and will sprout again with beautiful new leaves starting in March.
