Product details

The rubber plant, Latin Ficus Elastica Robusta, is a strong air-purifying plant that can withstand many conditions. For example, the ficus can live well in semi-shade to shade, the plant needs little water and is highly resistant to insects. The rubber plant owes its name to the fact that its leaves were once used to make rubber. Nowadays, the plant is only cultivated to look nice in living rooms and offices. The ficus originally comes from Africa, but the plant can also be found in South America, Australia and Asia. The ficus belongs to the Moraceae plant family, the mulberry family. This ficus species is the Ficus Elastica Robusta, which has very large leaves with an oval shape. The leaves are glossy and dark green in colour. A beautiful, eye-catching houseplant.

Care:
The Ficus Robusta is a very easy to care for houseplant. The rubber plant likes a bright spot, but try to avoid direct sunlight, so don't place the plant too close to the window. The ficus also prefers a temperature of at least 15 degrees. It is advisable to remove the leaves occasionally to encourage growth, as they can collect a lot of dust. The Ficus Robusta needs water about once or twice a week. Allow the soil to dry out well between waterings and the plant needs less water in winter. Between March and September, the ficus will want some plant food on a regular basis. Finally, the rubber plant can grow up to 2 metres high in a spacious pot. Please be careful, as the Ficus Robusta is poisonous to children and animals.
