Hydrangea paniculata 'Silver Dollar' is a very robust and abundantly flowering panicle hydrangea. It blooms from June to September with large white, panicle-shaped, pointed flower clusters that retain their ornamental value into the winter. This plant is hardy and summer-green. If you prune the panicle hydrangea back each spring, it will not grow as tall but will produce more and larger flowers. It reaches a height of up to 125 cm and a width of about 120 cm.

With hydrangeas, it is important to cut off the spent flowers. However, in winter, it is best to leave them alone, as they provide protection for the new flower buds against frost and harsh winds. In March, when the risk of frost has passed, all the brown, old, spent flowers can be cut back to just above the first or second healthy bud. This type of pruning encourages the growth of new shoots and ensures that the flower size does not decrease. All types of hydrangeas absolutely cannot tolerate drought. Give them plenty of water during dry spells, especially in spring and summer. It is not advisable to give them a little water now and then; it is best to provide a large amount of water at once. Sometimes hydrangeas can become a bit bare at the base during the blooming period, and the leaves may also turn yellow. This is almost always due to drought.
