Product details
The Phalaenopsis, also known as the butterfly orchid, is native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, the Philippines, and Australia, where it primarily grows on trees. The butterfly orchid is incredibly popular, and it’s easy to see why. Not only does the orchid produce elegant flowers in beautiful colors, but it is also low-maintenance and has a long flowering period that can last up to three months. Additionally, the Phalaenopsis is one of the few species that produces multiple flower spikes each year. The Phalaenopsis violet produces stunning purple flowers on two flower spikes.
Care
The Phalaenopsis prefers a minimum night temperature of 16 °C and a maximum daytime temperature of 32 °C. The ideal daytime temperature is between 20 and 22 °C. Place the orchid in a bright spot, but out of direct sunlight, especially during the summer months. Are the leaves turning yellow? The plant is likely getting too much direct sunlight. Dropped flower buds or dark green leaves, on the other hand, indicate a lack of light. Water the orchid not in the center of the plant, but on the soil in the pot. Even better, submerge the pot in a bucket for a minute. This way, the orchid can safely go without water for seven days. Preferably, use special orchid soil.
