The phalaenopsis, also known as the butterfly orchid, is native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, the Philippines and Australia, where it grows mainly on trees. The butterfly orchid is incredibly popular, and it's not hard to see why. Not only does the orchid produce elegant flowers in beautiful colours, it is also easy to care for and has a long flowering period that can last up to three months. Care
The Phalaenopsis prefers a minimum night temperature of 16°C and a maximum day temperature of 32°C. The ideal day temperature is between 20 and 30°C. The ideal daytime temperature is between 20 and 22°C. Place the orchid in a bright spot, but out of direct sunlight, especially in the summer months. Are the leaves turning yellow? The plant probably receives too much direct sunlight. Fallen flower buds or dark green leaves, on the other hand, indicate a lack of light. Do not pour the water for the orchid into the heart of the plant, but onto the soil in the pot. It is even better to submerge the pot in a bucket for a minute. Then the orchid can safely go seven days without water. Preferably use special orchid soil.
