The Strobilanthes anisophyllus 'Brunetthy' is a beautiful ornamental shrub from Asia. It is a bushy plant with elongated, deep purple leaves. From April to June, it blooms with delicate, bell-shaped, lilac flowers that create a lovely contrast against the dark foliage. Strobilanthes anisophyllus 'Brunetthy' is somewhat winter hardy and deciduous, but it requires a sheltered spot with as much sunlight as possible. Alternatively, 'Brunetthy' can also be used in pots and overwintered indoors.

Care
The Strobilanthus actually does not require pruning. To maintain the shape of the plant, the long shoots can be trimmed in spring and/or summer to preserve its form. It prefers full sun or partial shade. Additionally, the plant is moderately winter hardy down to -4 °C.
