Bearing series 22. Design with cylindrical and tapered bore. Self-aligning ball bearings have two rows of balls and a common concave spherical raceway in the outer ring. They are therefore angularly movable and insensitive to angular misalignments of the shaft relative to the housing. They are particularly suitable for bearing applications where large shaft deformations or alignment errors are expected. Self-aligning ball bearings also exhibit the lowest friction losses of all rolling bearings. This allows them to operate somewhat quieter and cooler even at higher speeds.
