The Victron 100 A:50 mA current transformer (MPN CTR120000500) is an extension for the MultiPlus-II / MultiGrid-II series and features a wire end instead of a connection socket, unlike its predecessor. This transformer enables the implementation of the PowerControl and PowerAssist functions, as well as optimizing self-consumption with external current measurement.

PowerControl – Optimizing power supply with limited AC

The MultiPlus-II / MultiGrid-II can deliver a very high charging current. This places a significant load on the AC supply or generator. For this reason, a maximum current can be set. The MultiPlus-II then takes into account the existing consumption and uses only the remaining available current for battery charging.

PowerAssist – Extended usage options for generator or shore connection: the "support" function

With this function, the PowerControl principle gains a new dimension, as the MultiPlus-II can support a weak alternative source. Load peaks often occur only for a limited time. In such cases, the MultiPlus-II ensures that insufficient AC grid or generator power is immediately compensated by energy from the battery. If the load is reduced, meaning consumers are turned off, the subsequently available energy can be used to charge the batteries.
