Surge protection. Measuring, controlling, and regulating. Surge protection with individual components and suppressor diodes. Suppressor diodes operate similarly to conventional Zener diodes. After exceeding a breakdown voltage defined by the manufacturer, the diode becomes conductive within 10 to 100 picoseconds. Compared to Zener diodes, suppressor diodes have a higher current carrying capacity and a shorter response time.
