Securely Fixing Sun Sails

A tear-resistant rope ensures a stable connection between sun sails and their attachment elements, such as a sun sail pole or a wall eye. With the rope, an individual distance for tensioning can be set.

The Material

The cord made of weather-resistant PP is lightweight yet robust, making it ideal for outdoor applications. It can be easily tied or knotted and cut to the desired length.

Installing a Sun Sail

The attachment options for sun sails are as diverse as the gardens and terraces they provide shade for. A fundamental requirement is always that the sun sail is anchored at all corners. For this purpose, anchoring elements such as a sun sail pole, wall eye, eye screw for posts, and similar items are used. With the help of connecting elements (rope, D-shackle, carabiner, tension anchor, tension strap, tension spring), the sun sail is hooked into the anchoring element. To ensure you can attach and tension your sun sail as comfortably as possible, there is a wide range of sun protection accessories available.

It is important to think about the necessary slope of at least 15° from the outset and to install the first attachments high enough. The 15° slope (approximately 15 cm per meter) ensures that rain does not collect on the sail but can drain off. Rain that collects on the sun sail not only makes it heavier and increases the overall load on the attachment but can, in extreme cases, lead to deformation of the fabric that cannot be corrected by re-tensioning it more tightly. With the right attachment, sun sails are very wind-stable. Nevertheless, it is advisable to remove the sail during severe weather, thunderstorms, heavy rain, or storms.
