A bit of a silly question, but is the trim thread somehow ecologically safe, or is there 10kg of nylon in my garden after 10 years? Are there any alternatives? Let it be said that I'm not an eco-fundy.... :-)

Since the lawn section has to be swept up, the string does not remain on the lawn, if you can find it at all...... after 10 years, the batteries are gone anyway and the device is no longer usable ... because the batteries will probably no longer be available for purchase. But the device fulfils its purpose 100%.

After 10 years, the top layer of the lawn has to be disposed of and replanted anyway!
