I have the part and am completely at a loss with the EasyFeed function. The thread lengthens, but it doesn't cut itself automatically, does it? Sometimes it happens that it lengthens and then of course bangs against the plastic protector. Then I always have to cut it manually to the right length so that it stays within the protective area.

It has a small metal plate on the plastic protector. When the trim thread hits this plate, it is automatically cut off. At least that was the case with me. I never had to cut the thread manually.

Yes, there is a small knife built into the guard. If that's missing, it won't work, of course.

That's exciting. I don't have any metal on the big semi-circular protector. It's just plastic and the thread hammers against it non-stop.
