The Clydesdale was bred with large, well-proportioned feet and healthy legs for walking on hard, paved roads. They have longer legs and a slimmer body than most draft breeds. The name Clydesdale comes from the Clyde Valley in Lanarkshire, Scotland, where it is believed to have originated. It is the only living heavy horse from Scotland.
