The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game is a cooperative game for 1 to 4 players. Players work together to face the challenges of scenarios controlled by the game itself. This Living Card Game regularly releases additional cards and adventures, allowing players to customize the content of this base game or create their own unique decks.

The reissue of the base game includes enough game components for up to four players to play simultaneously. Additionally, the reissue contains at least one game set (3 copies of each card) for every player card. It also features new Favor and Burden cards, as well as Campaign cards that can be used to connect the scenarios of the base game into a campaign.
