A nativity scene is a traditional decoration associated with the Christmas celebration that depicts the scene of the birth of Jesus Christ. Nativity scenes come in various forms, from simple, handmade models to complex and artistically designed installations. Their purpose is to remind the faithful of the biblical story of Jesus' birth in Bethlehem. The tradition of creating nativity scenes dates back to the Middle Ages. Francis of Assisi created a living nativity scene in 1223 in Greccio, Italy, recreating the scene of Jesus' birth with the involvement of people and animals. In this way, he aimed to bring the mystery of the Incarnation closer to the people. Shortly after this event, nativity scenes began to appear all over Europe, initially in monasteries and later in churches and private homes.

The traditional nativity scene includes figures representing the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Often, angels, shepherds, the Three Wise Men, and animals such as oxen, donkeys, and sheep are also included. At the center is a small manger where the newborn Jesus lies. The entire scene is set in a stable or a cave.

The COBI nativity scene contains the most characteristic elements of a traditional stable. The interesting structure made of 370 pieces features many intriguing plants, including ivy on the wall and a palm tree near the stable. Above the small building is the Star of Bethlehem, which guides the Wise Men from the East. In their hands, they hold gifts that they will present to the newborn Christ. Cattle, an ox, a sheep, and a donkey roam around. Inside the stable are the Holy Family: Joseph, Mary, and Jesus.
