The keel was laid in 1908, the ship was launched in October 1910, and it entered service in 1911. With a length of 269 meters and a width of 28.3 meters, the giant reached speeds of up to 24 knots. For about a dozen days, it was considered the largest ship in the world until it lost this title to the Titanic.

The Olympic carried passengers for over 20 years and also served as a military transport during World War I. In 1918, it sank the German submarine U-103. After the war, it resumed passenger service and remained a symbol of reliability and luxury until 1935.
