Product details
The Flying Scotsman is both the name of a famous steam locomotive and a train service that connects the English capital London with its Scottish counterpart Edinburgh. The train operated from 1862 to 2011 on the main route of the East Coast Main Line (ECML) in both directions between London’s Kings Cross station and Waverley Station, Edinburgh's main train station. It passed through the cities of Peterborough, Doncaster, York, Darlington, Newcastle, Berwick-upon-Tweed, and Dunbar. Over time, the travel time was reduced from ten and a half hours to exactly 4 hours (with a stop in Newcastle). Since 2011, the train only runs from Edinburgh to London. It is considered the fastest connection between the two cities and is operated by high-speed trains from the Japanese company Hitachi. The Cobi model depicts the locomotive 4472 'Flying Scotsman' from 1923, a tender locomotive of the LNER Class A3, which is the only surviving example of its class and has been used for special trains since 2016. The model consists of 2677 pieces, includes 2 minifigures, printed blocks, and movable elements. Model dimensions (LxWxH): 66 x 10 x 13 cm.
