The aircraft designed by Grumman in 1957 was independently developed for the surveillance of aircraft carriers and has continued to evolve to this day. The Hawkeye is undoubtedly the most complex aircraft in existence. It is so large that it can still take off effortlessly. The Hawkeye can be accommodated in the hangars of aircraft carriers, as its wings can be folded back on both sides. The operational core is the radar, which is equipped with one of the fastest computers available. The French Navy ordered three units of the Hawkeye in April 1995. The first unit was delivered to the airbase in Lann-Bihoué on December 18, 1998. These aircraft are part of the 4F Flotilla and are stationed aboard the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle.
