This helicopter is characterized by exceptional robustness and reliability. It has been in use worldwide since the mid-1960s and is likely the most well-known helicopter. During the Vietnam War, it was used for combat, rescue, and transport purposes. Subsequently, it was also produced in Italy, Germany, and Japan and is in service in more than fifty nations for military and police operations. Currently, twin-engine versions are being produced, and it is expected that the UH-1 will remain in service for another twenty years.
