The model is a replica of the Kfz. 69, which was also known as the Schwimmwagen. As the Volkswagen 82 (Kubelwagen) proved to be very successful during the campaign in Poland, it became necessary to produce more and more vehicles. Later, Ferdinand Porsche developed an amphibious version of this car called the Schwimmwagen. The low weight of this vehicle (approximately 1/2 ton) allowed it to traverse muddy areas, as only two men were needed to keep this vehicle in motion. For reconnaissance and liaison missions, it was often necessary to cross water, which was impossible with other vehicles.
