In March 2018, Flixtrain's first long-distance train premiered on the Cologne - Hamburg route. Since then, the green trains have been connecting the two metropolises on the Rhine and Elbe daily. In April, the second route from Berlin to Stuttgart was added. The trains are operated with electric locomotives of the BR 182 (ES64U2 Taurus), which are leased from MRCE and Hectorrail. The 182 505 is the only locomotive fully wrapped in Flixtrain colors. The 182 202, delivered to Siemens Dispolok in 2002, is no stranger to passenger services, having previously been in operation with DB Fernverkehr and DB Regio. Licensed by Flixtrain.
