There are few buildings in the USA that evoke history and power as much as the White House designed by James Hoban. On July 16, 1792, President George Washington selected this design from proposals submitted by six renowned architects. The six-story sandstone building was intended to instill respect for the state among citizens and foreign visitors. Construction took place from 1792 to 1800. After the fire in 1814, the building was rebuilt by Hoban. The 22.4 cm wide model of the White House stands on a base plate with an inscription. The included brochure contains information about the building, its construction, and its history.
