Advent Calendar - Heinrich Zille

Heinrich Zille's humor has inspired us to create an Advent calendar based on his painting "Zum Nussbaum." The artist, known for his connection to the people, was born in Radeburg, Saxony, and spent his youth in Berlin. There, with a keen sense of observation, he captured the life of the Berlin lower class, illustrating and writing about their "Milljöh" with great wit and humor.

Coming from humble beginnings himself, "Pinselheinrich," as he was called, was able to empathize with the lifestyle of Berliners and lovingly and critically depicted his "Berliner Milljöh." From the windows of our Advent calendar, you will find 24 additional drawings by Heinrich Zille, which impressively and humorously represent the "Berliner Milljöh." So, chuckle along with Heinrich Zille through the Christmas season.
