Elephant bulls are significantly larger than elephant cows. At nearly four meters tall, they are the second largest land animals after giraffes. Additionally, they weigh between five and six tons, making them the heaviest of all land animals. Typically, African elephant bulls separate from their herd at around twelve years of age. By then, they are mature enough to find their own food and defend themselves, and they roam the land with other bulls or as solitary individuals in search of another herd.
