After being robbed of all their possessions, a wizard, a barbarian, an elf, and a dwarf are forced to go to the Magic Maze, the local shopping mall, to gather all the equipment for their next adventure. They agree to collect their loot simultaneously before winding their way to the exits to escape the guards who have been keeping an eye on them since their arrival. Magic Maze is a cooperative game played in real-time. Each player can control one of the four hero figures at will to perform specific actions that other players cannot access, such as moving north, exploring a new area, or using an escalator. This requires strict cooperation among all players to move the hero figures wisely and achieve the goal before the hourglass runs out. However, players are only allowed to communicate with each other for a short time during the game. For the rest of the time, they play without giving any acoustic or visual hints to the other players. Magic Maze offers 17 scenarios and 7 difficulty levels.
